Newton Fuel Tag: How it works
- RegisterCompanies send the company form plus driver and vehicle lists; individuals and schools send the individual form. The last 4 digits of each driver’s cell number become their PIN.
- Get your welcome letterIt is emailed once registration is complete and includes the reference to use when you pay.
- Receive your tagDelivery is confirmed after registration. Keep the tag where the attendant can see it.
- Pre-payPay any amount you choose into the account shown in your welcome letter, then email your proof of payment.
- Fill up at AstronHand the attendant your tag, pump, then enter your PIN to authorise. No cash or card is used at the site.

Fixed monthly price
The price per litre is fixed for each month and confirmed after the price change on the first Wednesday, which makes fuel budgeting easy.
Your discount
It does not show on the pump slip. It accumulates and is paid in arrears by the 15th of each month, into your wallet or nominated bank account.
Diesel only
Purchases are for diesel at participating Astron Energy sites.
Lost or stolen tag?
Email zoe@newtonsphere.co.za immediately so it can be deactivated and replaced.

Newtonsphere is growing up. What began as consulting has evolved into direct supply, brokering and trading — a full-service marine energy operation.
And we’re not stopping at South African waters. We are actively helping establish in-port and offshore marine physical supply positions in other African ports, extending our clients’ fuel security across the continent.

Local duty paid
Newtonsphere partners with and helps market Eyona Marine, a private Level 1 B-BBEE company with many years in the local duty-paid market. Enquiries are handled under the Eyona Marine banner.
International duty free
We work with traders and physical suppliers to broker business in South African waters: Cape Town, Durban and Richards Bay.

Where we supply
Our bunkering footprint is growing. Port by port, we’re building physical supply positions across the African coast — starting close to home and expanding outward.
Mozambique
Supply is live. Working with our in-country partners, we offer:
• In-port truck supply — fast, flexible bunkering alongside
• Offshore supply via partner tanker — product delivered to vessels at anchorage or offshore
Mozambique is proof of the model: partner-led, physically delivered, and ready for your call.
Namibia
Nearly there. We’re finalising in-port supply with both truck and pipeline options, with offshore supply via a partner tanker under review.
We’re also going a step further — exploring our own storage and gantries in Namibia, because owned infrastructure means greater control over price, quality and availability for our clients.
Other ports
Watch this space. We’re working on new physical supply positions in additional African ports, with an announcement expected shortly.
Newton Bunkering: Ship slops
Quayside collection
We collect ship slops from vessels at the quayside by road tanker and take them to facilities for processing.
Certified disposal
Newtonsphere partners issue certificates of safe disposal for all collected slops, in line with the National Environmental Management: Waste Act classification and management regulations and the National Ports Act.
Customs & permits
Received slops are cleared through customs and the necessary import permits are obtained from ITAC. Partners also hold scheduled trade permits to operate hazardous waste recycling facilities.

Our story
Roy joined Mobil, which became Engen Petroleum, then was head-hunted by companies for whom he set up marine businesses and established markets. Newtonsphere began as a management consultancy.
